Biography
Wai Law is a theatre reviewer and professional counsellor based in Hong Kong. Alongside his work in mental health, he writes theatre criticism informed by a deep interest in human emotion, relationships, and lived experience.
Trained in counselling with a focus on trauma, family therapy, and intimacy-related issues, he has worked in social service organisations supporting individuals affected by relationship violence and complex interpersonal dynamics. His professional practice is grounded in humanistic, trauma-informed, and gender-aware approaches.
These perspectives inform his theatre reviewing, where he is attentive to emotional structures, relational dynamics, and the psychological depth of performance. He approaches theatre as a space where human experience is examined, contested, and reimagined.
He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Social Sciences (Counselling) from City University of Hong Kong, and is a member and candidate certified counsellor of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association. He has also received training in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy and is currently undergoing certification in Somatic Experiencing.
